LIFT 2010 continues apace.  As we pass the half way point of the festival, we say goodbye to Dries Verhoeven, whose show Life Streaming opened the festival at the National Theatre; to Rimini Protokoll’s Best Before, which gave us the chance to take control our own brief virtual destinies; and to Polyglot Theatre, who filled the entire of Waterloo Terrace at the National with entire worlds made from cardboard boxes, imagination and a huge dose of fun.

Check out the photos for some of the highlights from the festival so far.

This week we welcomed the world’s only professional deafblind theatre company Nalaga’at to artsdepot with their spectacular show ‘Not by Bread Alone’.  Many shows are now sold out, so book quickly to make sure you don’t miss it- you can get tickets here.

Catalyst Theatre join us from Canada with their darkly creative, gothic musical ‘Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Death of Edgar Allan Poe’, which opens tonight at the Barbican.  A must-see for all fans of the work of Tim Burton and Shockheaded Peter.

Finally, we round off the week with the Hide&Seek weekender- a 3 day session of games, playful experiences, and the Hide&Seek party! Check out the games, and find out more about Hide&Seek here

And what’s been going on in the press?

With a 5 star review for Not By Bread Alone, and 4 star reviews for Nevermore, Food Court and Best Before, here is a selection of recent coverage about the festival.

Not by Bread Alone, Nalaga’at

*****, Whatsonstage.com

“Nalaga’at artistic director and the company have created a production that would impress under ordinary circumstances; as it is this piece is extraordinary….a true act of theatrical communion is performed…  We are reaching through the boundaries of darkness and light and communicating clearly with one another.”

“It finds its own, inventive way to engender understanding of someone from a very different world, to take you on their journey: which is one thing, surely, that theatre should try to do.”
