"It’s incredibly exciting to be bringing Aftermath to the tunnels with LIFT. It’s a remarkable company telling real stories of Iraqi civilians, the conflict’s human impact that gives a powerful and visceral voice to the ordinary who are too often ignored and forgotten”

Kevin Spacey, Artistic Director, Old Vic

March 20, 2003. A date that the ordinary people of Iraq will never forget. A day that changed their lives forever. The day the Americans arrived in
their country.

Award–winning actor/directors Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen (The Exonerated) visited Jordan to discover first hand what happened to Iraqi civilians as a result of the events that began on that fateful day.

They interviewed some 37 people — a cross section of lives interrupted — who fled the chaos and violence that befell Iraqi society for the relative safety of Jordan. Aftermath is the harsh and mind-blowing drama that tells these peoples’ stories first hand. An unforgettable theatrical event produced by the acclaimed New York Theatre Workshop, staged in the dramatic and evocative setting of The Old Vic Tunnels.

Presented by LIFT and The Old Vic, in association with ArKtype/Thomas O. Kriegsmann and Amnesty International.
