Wembley Primary School
Powerful images from the LIFT Living Archive grabbed the attention of pupils from Wembley Primary School. Collaborating with LIFT artists, the children used recycled materials to construct Guardians of the seven Olympic values which they proudly introduced to the mayor of Brent.
Olympic Guardians
Year 3 pupils from Wembley Primary School explored the LIFT Living Archive with Sue Mayo. They were particularly struck by pictures from the South African production of You Strike the Women, You Strike the Rock, Lift’87, and a poster for the 1999 LIFT festival.
Polly Beestone and Kelly Garrett worked with the children to build seven puppets from recycled materials, Guardians of the Olympic values: Inspiration, Determination, Courage, Equality, Friendship, Respect and Excellence.
The children worked with Dan Scott to write poems and chants introducing each of the seven Guardians which you can listen to here.
